I create things and help other people create things.
For nearly three decades, I've worked with and led creative technology teams to build games, location-based VR experiences, filmmaking virtual production and previsualization systems, and tools for creators.
I live at an uncommon intersection of art and technology - trained in filmmaking at NYU and AFI and a professional software engineer since 1994, game design and devlopment was a natural next step. When game technologies began to be adopted by filmmakers, I entered this space to help make it possible to explore the visual language of film in real-time. Now with the advent of generative AI, the the gulf between the idea and its execution is dropping further, but with this comes a new challenge: how to use these tools in a way that is intentional and directable, and supports creativity rather than trying to supplant it. My work is focused on building systems and workflows that help creators use AI and real-time tools with intention, control, and authorship.
I believe stories matter. Metaphor is fundamentally the tool we use to understand our lives, and stories shape those metaphors. I focus my work on creating systems and tools that break down the barriers between creators and the stories they want to share.
